Modern amenities you wouldn't have seen in Barrymore's day include elegant wood floors and bar, a new state of the art kitchen, and an enviable win cellar in the heart of the main dining room.
The menu at all four Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouses includes quintessential fare of steaks, chops and seafood, distinguished by the exception quality of the USDA Certified Prime, dry aged beef, and house hallmark - the secret of spices that season every steak before it hits the grill. History: The two story former townhouse of legendary John Drew Barrymore is the site of the newes t Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouse.
A member of America's Royal Acting Family, John Drew Barrymore (1882-1942) was known for his three great loves - wine, women, and song. He chose this location as his New York City home to be near the Theatre District. The second floor of the building (and the restaurants main dining room) boasts The BARRYMORE ROOM, the Barrymore's intact former study, complete with his fireplace, stained glass ceiling panels and dark wood walls. Image old Jack rolling out the carpet to romance his dates in from of the comforting fire. The decor of the Steakhouse was designed to complement Mr. Barrymore's study. Barrymore, born on Valentine's Day, had a flair for romance. Following his astonishing role as Don Juan, Mr. Barrymore's nexgt role was in Sea Beast. which also carried a romantic touch - for while kissing the love of his life Dolores Costello, legend has it that he caused her to faint. So powerful was Barrymore's kiss that they married soon after. Visitors often remark that they feel Barrymore's inspiration while dining in his one time home.
With two other locations in New York City and two outside the city, all Frankie & Johnnie's Steakhouses have the common bond of: tradition, fabulous food, and their historic buildings.
